Looking for the perfect Bernese Mountain Dog...?

Our BARC dogs do come with Berner kisses, the Berner handshakes, the Berner smiles, those soulful Berner eyes, a big fuzzy foot warmer in the winter, and all of the love your heart can hold.  HOWEVER - Please remember, dogs are not perfect, just like humans.  Some BARC dogs need a little work and some need a lot of work. With each accomplishment & every milestone conquered, you & your rescue Berner will become closer & your bond deeper. ​That is a guarantee!
Adoption Guidelines
BARC, Inc. places its rescues for adoption under the following guidelines:
  • All applicants to adopt will be carefully screened.
  • All applicants to adopt must fill in an Application to Adopt, available above or by email.
  • Applications to adopt will be reviewed by our adoption committee and references will be checked.
  • BARC, Inc. reserves the right to refuse any application without providing reason for the refusal to the applicant.
  • Applicants to adopt must agree to enter into and abide by the terms of BARC, Inc.’s adoption contract.
  • BARC, Inc.’s rescues will be spayed or neutered prior to placement. 
  • Adoption fee is based on our per dog expense. Adoption fees are currently ranging between $450 to $1400.
0-1 year  - $1400
1-2 years - $1200
2-3 years - $900
4-5 years - $700
6-7 years - $600
8 years - $500
9+ years - $450
*BARC does everything it can to be able to keep the adoption fees as low as possible but it is expensive to rescue Bernese Mountain Dogs from exploitative, neglectful and abusive situations.  Besides the initial cost of the rescue there is the cost of vetting and other needs of the dogs while they are in foster care.  These dogs require collars, leashes, food, shots, spay/neuter, de-worming, heart worm testing, heart worm preventative and more. Sometimes they need additional treatments for things such as infections in the eyes, ears, teeth, limbs, or skin.  They may have issues such as seizures or other medical needs that can’t be foreseen at the time of rescue.  BARC is only able to continue to rescue other Bernese Mountain Dogs if the cost of doing the rescues is covered.  The adoption fee does not cover the cost of transporting your dog from its foster home to your location.
BARC, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit corporation established in 2001 run by volunteers dedicated to rescuing & rehabilitating pure bred Bernese Mountain Dogs from high-risk environments, owner surrender & rehomes to dog brokers, auctions, & any other dangerous, exploitative or abusive situation. BARC, Inc. places these dogs in loving pet homes as spayed or neutered companions in loving forever homes.
Bernese Auction Rescue Coalition,Inc. is a 501c3 tax-exempt, non-profit organization.  All donations to BARC are fully tax deductible under current U.S. tax laws.  Donors outside the U.S. should consult their tax advisors regarding the tax status of their charitable donations.
