The Foster Process
- Once you're approved as a foster, your area coordinator will contact you as foster needs arise.
- Foster commitments can vary depending on the dog’s needs. Some dogs may need time to recover from surgeries such as spay/neuter, while others may simply need updated vaccines or routine care.
- Our dogs come from a variety of situations, and some may arrive needing additional veterinary attention.
- Puppies often arrive with intestinal parasites. Your coordinator will go over the necessary precautions to help keep your home and resident pets safe.
- For the health and safety of all pets, it's important that your resident dogs are up to date on vaccinations and preventative care.
- Please be open with your foster coordinator about your availability and time commitment so we can make the best match for both you and the dog.
- As a foster, you have the first right of refusal. If you decide your foster dog is a forever match, simply let your coordinator know.
